DIY: Colorful Cute Pens

I'm in the process of creating a workspace in my entryway so I've been inspired by cute office decor. I had the idea to transform my boring ballpoint pens, too. While these decorative pens are quick to make, they can be tricky. But your pen jar will thank you. They also make for a cute, homemade gift!

Materials
  • Ballpoint pens in any color you'd like
  • Fun, patterned paper (the thinner, the better)
  • A thick, solid nail polish
  • Double-sided Scotch tape

Directions
  1. First, you'll want to take the nail polish and paint the tip and top of the pen. In this case, it's where my ballpoint pens have blue plastic. I didn't like the idea of an ugly blue or black poking through such pretty paper so I decided to paint them gold. You'll probably need about 2 coats.
  2. Once the polish is dry, you'll want to carefully measure the circumference and length of the pen (read: from one white end to the other). This way you can cut the paper's width and length accordingly.
  3. Once you have your paper cut and ready to go, you'll want to cut double-sided Scotch tape with the same length as your paper and apply two strips vertically on the pen. Then, take the paper and roll it around the pen slowly, making sure it's going on evenly and adhering to the pen surface.
  4. Once that's done, you'll have a cute assortment of pens!
